Before you start, make sure you know where you want to do the handwashing. Is it going to be in the basement, in your bathroom, kitchen, or outside?
Also, what do you want to wash the towels in? Is it in a bucket, basement sink, kitchen sink, bathroom sink, or in a plastic tote?
The best easy and simple way to make handwashing easy is by using the right tools.
How Should Bed Sheets Be Laundered?
Things you need before you start: hand-washing essentials:
1. Detergent
2. Bar soap
4. Table
5. Clothes Line
6. Clothes Pins
Always use a mild and gentle detergent on your bed sheets. I use different liquid detergents depending on how I want my bed sheet or clothes to smell.
I love to use All Stain Lifter Oxi For most of my washing because it smells good and removes stains fast plus soft on anything you wash.

I love to use Tide Simple Oxi For most of my washing because it smells good and removes stains fast.
I add a bar soap to my washing. I turn to use Zote bar soap because it’s gentle on clothes and has a good smell to clothes.
As you have options for what to wash your towels or clothe in, I either use a basement sink, a bucket, or a tote. This clear plastic tote makes it easy to hand wash which I love.
I like to use a folding wood table where I put my tote on whenever I decided to use a clear plastic tote to hand wash any clothes. The table also helps with your back as you hand wash by standing.
You need a clothespin if you decided to hand dry your towels or clothes. These wood pins hold great and I like using them to hang my towels and clothes either outside or indoors.
you need a clothesline to hang your washed towels on. You can have one in your basement, outside, or where it’s convenient for you.
How do you wash sheets by hand?
Instructions:
Step 1: How can I make my bed sheets smell fresh?
1. Always read the label on tags to know what are the washing guidelines to make sure your towels are not ruined by washing them the wrong way.
2. Now is time to set your plastic tote or bucket on the folding table. But if you’re using a sink then you just fill it with water.
3. Fill the tote with warm water to the middle level depending on how many bed sheet you’re hand washing.
4. Add your liquid detergent to the water.
5. Now add the sheets to the soapy water, submerge the bed sheet and leave them to soak for 30 minutes before you hand wash them.
6. After 30 minutes, now is time to start washing. I always wash my towels, bed sheets and clothes in 3 simple steps.
How do you hand wash white sheets?
Step 2 First Wash:
1. Now with both hands take one, start from the edges of the sheets, rub bar soap on the ends as you wash, and scrub between your hands to get the stains and dirt out.
Scrub from one end to the next end the width ofwrigle in between your palm as you move ene to end scrubbing little by little down to the other end of the bed sheet width.
Once that is done, give it a rough wash and squeeze the water out but do it gently, and move on next to the fittet sheets and pillow cases.
Repeat this process until all of your sheets are washed nicely. Throw away the soapy water.
What is the best way to wash sheets?
Step 3: Second Wash:
1. For this second wash. At this stage, just give the bed sheets a rough wash fill the tote with new lukewarm water to the same level as the first step,
not adding any more soap you could but because you still have a lot of soapy scum in the bed sheets so just a rough wash is the best way to go until every sheets is washed and squeeze. And throw this water away as well.
Should I wash my sheets in hot or cold water?
Step 4: Final Wash-Rinse Time:
- Fill the tote with new lukewarm water up to ¾ this time, add all the washed towels and just rinse them one by one until all is done.
- Towels turn to absorb a lot of soapy water so use enough water during your rinse so you don’t have stiff or hard towels after drying.
How do you wash sheets like a hotel?
Step 5. Drying Time:
1. Now is time to dry your hand-washed bed sheets. You can choose to dry them outside or indoors depending on where you live and how the weather is.
I normally dry my bed sheets, towels and clothes outside during the summer and indoors during the winter.
Once you decided where to dry them, pick one sheets at a time shake it 1-2 times to straighten it up,
hang it from one end by holding it up on the line in place with the clothespin on both ends of the towel, repeat these processes to hang all the towels, and you’re done!
If you don’t have a place to put up a clothesline to hang on, you can get folding collapsible clothes drying rack here to use instead.
You now have clean washed bed sheets simply and easily done by hand washing. As you’ve gone through the hand washing process, you’ve realized how easy a process t is to follow.
For most of my life, washing everything by hand are all I know because my family never owned a dryer or a washer.

Use gentle detergent on your sheets to still keep the natural colors. Adding bar soap like Zote to wash your towels makes them smell fresh and soft.

After hand washing applies a Vaseline gel to your hands to keep them moisturized as the soap water makes your hands dry and the Vaseline helps keep them moist from drying out. You can later use your regular hand cream.

With personal experience, within week two you start to smell funny odor, you don’t sleep well, your body itches and feel tired the next day and discoloration of you sheets from sweat.
